The MagTek 22551002 MICRsafe triple-track check reader can be used at a point of sale to scan a check, read the MICR characters that appear along the bottom of the check, and create an electronic copy, and it contains an integrated triple-track magnetic card reader to read a credit or debit card or another magnetic stripe card to complete a transaction. A feed mechanism allows the user to drop and push a check through for speed. The triple-track magnetic card reader can read and capture data from all three tracks typically present in a magnetic stripe to complete a transaction. Triple DES (Data Encryption Standard) encryption helps protect transaction data and prevent unauthorized access. An authenticator encrypts card data for security. The USB port can be used to connect the check reader to a computer or another host system to transmit check or card data (cable sold separately). USB keyboard emulation enables the reader to transmit data to host systems and applications designed to receive keyboard input.
